Michael Khoury and The Ericsson Report: Big Data, Terrorism, and National Security Threats
Michael Khoury is an investigative journalist who’s spent the last few years researching a company called Ericsson and eventually producing a comprehensive document called The Ericsson Report: A Matter of National Security.Â
Ericsson is a Swedish telecom firm of gigantic proportions. In February 2022, The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) published a comprehensive report based on leaked documents which included summaries of 28 witnesses, and millions of emails. The report included details of widespread corruption in countries across the globe. Most notably, Ericsson had close ties and bribery deals in place with ISIS for many years in order to operate in Iraq.
Using the ICIJ report as a springboard, Mr. Khoury’s investigation reveals the deep access Ericsson has within the United States. During the Obama era, Ericsson was awarded a US government contract to control the entire 911 emergency service portals. As a private entity in a foreign country, the company that currently holds all of the data of the 911 emergency services has no government oversight over its activities. If Ericsson comes under the influence of adversaries of the United States, access to 911 emergency service portals and data could be impacted.
There are 450 families of US soldiers and citizens who were killed in Syria, Iraq or Afghanistan at the hands of terrorist groups. The families are suing Ericsson for aiding and abetting terrorists, according to the lawsuit that was filed in August 2022.
Readers are encouraged to take a look at Mr. Khoury’s full report. Mr. Khoury is an independent journalist. This report, if confirmed by other journalists, would represent a major story with vast national security implications.
