Highlights
Mr. Ateba directed people to his website, TodayNewsAfrica.com, to read about what he consider to be the most important news story relating to US/Africa ties today. In recent Senate and House hearings, General Michael Langley, Commander of the U.S. Africa Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee about the growing threat of China establishing a presence in Africa.
Minerals: Approximately 40% of the minerals that U.S. companies use are located in Africa. The CCP is currently building strategically placed military bases which can one day potentially be used to drive American companies out of Africa, which of course would be detrimental to both the U.S. and Africa.
Mr. Ateba urges efforts between the U.S. and Africa to further develop Africa as a measure to counter the encroaching threat from the Chinese government.
“Respect the First Amendment!”
Mr. Ateba discussed the disappointing treatment he’s received in the press room from Ms. Karine Jean-Pierre, who has avoided taking a question from him for 7 months. There have been numerous important diplomatic visits between U.S. and African officials in recent months, and Mr. Ateba still has not been given a chance to ask questions during White House press briefings. Mr. Ateba would appreciate calling attention to the threat that China poses to both the U.S. and Africa, and he would appreciate being treated with respect by the White House secretary on behalf of the people of Africa.
