BOYCOTT: [Smuckers] Employee With Cancer Asked About Personal Health
I have been with the company 4.5 years. I asked for a religious exemption because my doctors wouldn’t sign off on the medical form. I have a type of cancer that can’t be treated with regular medical care, and I just went through another surgery on the 15th. Because of this, I don’t feel comfortable taking the vaccination due to possible reactions. All that I am dealing with caused me to have PTSD. I asked for an exemption to still be allowed to work from home or using a mask on campus. They denied me. I feel I was discriminated against because I’m not Catholic, and I have children They asked about my children and if I have them take vaccinations. This shouldn’t matter, nor should it matter how long I have been practicing my religion. We get constant emails stating I’m not compliant and don’t have my vaccination status updated. I asked for transparency on who is making the decisions and they won’t tell me. All they say is the questions are legal. They may be legal but they are not ethical. I just want to be able to continue doing my job, as I have been since March of 2020. We have many executives and managers living away from the office…. we should be given the same option.
