‘Sanctuary Cities’ Hypocrites
President Biden’s disastrous intentional open-border policies have allowed millions of illegal aliens into the United States of America. Once in the U.S., these individuals, who of course have no legal right to be in the United States, follow the siren call issued from “sanctuary cities” that are located across America.
A “sanctuary city” offers illegal immigrants the promise that they will be protected from being turned over to federal law enforcement and deported. This promise of protection from deportation and access to every social service has enticed illegal immigrants to pour into these cities. One estimate for New York City has eclipsed 100,000.
This mass inflow causes all municipal social services to be overwhelmed and eventually fail.
As a result, leaders of these cities that not long ago boasted about their sanctuary status, are now calling for the border to be closed. The hypocrisy is intense.
One of these numerous sanctuary cities that is now demanding that the borders be secure and funding for this debacle be federally financed is New York City. New York City Mayor Eric Adams visited the border city of El Paso and stated, “It is mandatory that this government on a national level respond to this fight.”
How does the chaos at the border lead to chaos in sanctuary cities? I will explain.
In less than three years, President Biden’s Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has made more than 7 million arrests of illegal immigrants that entered through America’s north, south, east, and west borders. After these 7 million plus illegal aliens are arrested and processed, they are then released right out the front door of Border Patrol stations. After being released from Border Patrol custody, these same individuals take a bus or airplane to their desired destination.
CBP makes over 256,000 a month. That is more than 8,500 arrests a day! CBP will have arrested and released a new fiscal year record of over 3 million illegal aliens by the end of September 2023.
Observers in CBP see this as an intentional invasion, and there is no end in sight.
These numbers are an underestimate, as they do not reflect the hundreds of thousands of monthly “getaways” that abscond from Border Patrol Agents. There are hundreds of miles of the southern border that are left unprotected. Meaning, that there are huge sections of the border where not one Border Patrol Agent is patrolling leaving America vulnerable. My sources within the Border Patrol state that there are minimal to zero law enforcement patrols from San Diego to El Paso.
It used to be that illegal immigrants tended to live in cities near the border. That is no longer the case.
Millions of illegal aliens are traveling to every state in the union now, with a majority going to the nearest sanctuary city. These sanctuary cities have openly promoted their compassion and desire to help illegal aliens. Naturally enough, people will gravitate to places that seem welcoming. Unfortunately for these illegal aliens, the self-righteous bluster of these cities was based on ignorance and fantasy. New York City is a perfect example of this about-face.
The situation in New York City is now so chaotic that Mayor Adams has declared a State of Emergency. Every week buses and more airplanes bring in between 3,000 and 5,000 new illegal aliens. New York City has already accepted over 100,000 individuals from the border and the city’s entire social services system has been brought to its knees.
Over half of the homeless shelters’ beds are occupied by illegal aliens. Even more incredibly, fifty percent of all of New York City’s hotels have been contracted with the city to house illegal aliens. Thousands of illegal aliens arrive in New York City every week. At the rate of over 10,000 new illegal aliens arriving every month, within one year the number of 100,000 illegal aliens will more than double.
Mayor Adams now states “We have no more room.” Though Mayor Adams had proudly proclaimed his city’s sanctuary status, he has now announced that New York City, “is being destroyed by the migrant crisis.”
What Mayor Adams and the residents of New York City are experiencing is what the southern border states have dealt with for decades, during a period when both the Democrats and Republicans fostered increasing levels of illegal immigration. Surely this chaos in sanctuary cities should have been predictable.
The frustration and anger from residents of New York City have hit a breaking point.
Because homeless shelters and hotels are completely full, Mayor Adams has begun to retrofit large open parks and schools into homeless shelters. These newly built, and proposed, sites devoted to housing illegal aliens are and will be in residential neighborhoods. Randall’s Island’s children’s soccer fields have been turned into a shelter that will house 2,000 single adult men. Another Band-Aid fix from Mayor Adams? He plans to house illegal aliens in a former private high school on Staten Island.
Eli Valentin, the founder of the Institute Latino think tank, stated, “It’s a catastrophe. The crisis has pushed this administration to the edge, and they’re just trying to see what would work, which has led to even more catastrophic decisions.”
The situation is bound to deteriorate further. It will destroy the city’s social services, leaving New Yorkers who are here legally, without the resources or help that they need. Thousands of military-aged males will be living on the streets; they speak dozens of languages, which adds to the disruption of the social fabric. Parks and other social gathering places will be made unavailable to city inhabitants and repurposed. The city will become unrecognizable.
The intentional destruction of the American immigration system by the Biden Administration is having an extremely negative impact on our nation. What New York City is dealing with now will spread to every major city and small town in America.
Americans from every community across our nation must demand that their leaders remove all “sanctuary” policies from their local ordinances.
All change begins locally. Only when communities come together and demand action for justice, safety, and sovereignty, will the disconnected and unaffected national leaders in Washington act in America’s interest – and close the border.
One of our country’s most important freedoms is that of free speech.
