Public Service Workers With Vaccine Exemptions Terminated, Athletes and Performers Exempt
Public Service Workers With Vaccine Exemptions Terminated, Athletes and Performers Exempt.
On March 24th, 2022, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that professional athletes and performers would be exempt from the current Department of Health and Mental Hygiene emergency policy that still applies to all New York City municipal employees in the five boroughs of NYC. However, all New Yorkers are entitled to Equal Opportunity Employment. This video highlights experienced public service veterans in their arena of performance; the streets of New York City.
Workers who have medical, religious, or moral objections to the vaccine mandate have been placed on involuntary leave without pay. Thousands of others are working without a mandate or have a pending request for reasonable accommodation. Approximately 1400 NYC workers have already been fired, and thousands more face the same consequences. Mayor Adams has expressed a commitment to fairness and equality and the revitalization of our local economy. Yet, the question of when all of New York City’s essential workers can return to their respective arenas remains unanswered.
