Hunter Biden Records Reveal Alleged Prostitution Probe
Two Senate committees say newly obtained Justice Department records show federal investigators possessed evidence suggesting potential prostitution-related crimes involving Hunter Biden — including possible violations of the federal Mann Act — years before the information was turned over to Congress.
The records were obtained by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations Chairman Ron Johnson after requests dating back to 2022 were finally fulfilled. According to the senators, the documents include text messages, financial records, and travel-related evidence that they say point to possible criminal conduct involving prostitution and interstate transport.
The allegations center around potential violations of the Mann Act, a federal law originally passed in 1910 that prohibits transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution or other illegal sexual activity.
Senators Say DOJ Sat on Evidence
According to the records released by the senators, federal authorities allegedly possessed evidence as early as October 2020 suggesting potential Mann Act concerns connected to Hunter Biden’s financial and travel activity.
Among the evidence cited:
- text messages allegedly discussing payments to women
- records involving flights purchased for unidentified women
- financial transactions involving foreign nationals from Ukraine and Russia
- suspicious activity reports tied to payments flagged during federal investigations
Grassley and Johnson argue the records strengthen longstanding concerns first raised in their 2020 Senate report examining Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings. That earlier report alleged some transactions appeared linked to what investigators described as a possible “Eastern European prostitution or human trafficking ring.”
IRS whistleblowers who later testified before Congress also claimed investigators uncovered evidence suggesting Hunter Biden deducted prostitution-related expenses on tax filings and paid for travel connected to escorts crossing state lines.
Renewed Questions About a “Two-Tiered” Justice System
The release of the records is reigniting accusations from Republicans that the Justice Department showed preferential treatment toward the son of then-President Joe Biden.
Grassley said the newly released documents raise serious questions about why Congress was denied access to the material for years while federal investigations into Hunter Biden were ongoing.
“The DOJ and FBI possessed evidence of potential crimes, yet it’s unclear what steps they took to fully investigate this shocking evidence,” Grassley said in a statement.
Republicans have increasingly framed the broader Hunter Biden investigations as evidence of what they describe as a “two-tiered justice system,” particularly after multiple IRS whistleblowers testified that prosecutors allegedly slow-walked or limited investigative avenues connected to the Biden family.
Critics Say Past Allegations Were Overstated
At the same time, many broader corruption allegations surrounding the Biden family remain heavily disputed.
Multiple media organizations and congressional reviews have noted that several high-profile claims pushed during earlier Biden investigations either lacked corroborating evidence or were later challenged.
For example, a key FBI informant connected to bribery allegations involving Burisma was later indicted for allegedly fabricating claims about the Bidens.
Democrats have also repeatedly argued that congressional Republicans often blurred the distinction between suspicious behavior, unethical conduct, and provable criminal activity during the years-long investigations into Hunter Biden’s finances and overseas business dealings.
The Political Fallout Continues
Even so, the newly released records are likely to intensify scrutiny surrounding the Justice Department’s handling of the Hunter Biden investigations, particularly after President Biden’s controversial pardon of his son fueled additional accusations of favoritism from critics.
The records also revive uncomfortable questions that have lingered since the original laptop controversy erupted during the 2020 election cycle — including whether federal investigators aggressively pursued all potential criminal avenues equally, or whether political sensitivities shaped how the case was handled behind the scenes.
For now, the Senate committees say their investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
