Can you tell me what the current safety status of the blood supply? I need a surgery and am confused about possibly needing a transfusion. Is the blood supply safe for this? I asked if I could give my own blood beforehand and that is not allowed. I don’t need any complications after surgery. I tried to find it online but everything I read says it is safe. I would appreciate some insight on this. Thank you.

My father is currently in the hospital, and the doctor is saying he may need a transfusion. We agreed to it on the condition that he *only* receive (unvaccinated) blood from either my sister or me. We would *never* take a chance on the general blood supply. Why not? Well, I recently heard of two elderly people with serious conditions who, all the same, were doing reasonably well before they got transfusions, but then DIED shortly after receiving them. 🙁 So, no, I would avoid the blood supply like the plague.
I would recommend that you get blood from an unvaccinated relative or friend, if that’s possible. Hope this helps.
