“Communist-Linked Group Leads Nationwide Anti-ICE Protests, Tied to China-Backed Funding Network”

A self-described revolutionary Communist group, the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), has taken a prominent role in organizing anti-ICE protests across the country, including demonstrations in Los Angeles that escalated into violent unrest. PSL, which openly advocates for a socialist revolution to replace the U.S. government, has drawn growing scrutiny for its ideological positions, ties to known Marxist funders, and sympathetic stance toward authoritarian regimes.
Leadership in Anti-ICE Demonstrations
PSL has spearheaded demonstrations opposing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, branding recent immigration crackdowns as state oppression. Protests in Los Angeles — organized in part by PSL — drew thousands and, in some cases, devolved into riots. President Donald Trump responded by deploying the California National Guard and activating Marines from Camp Pendleton to restore order.
The group claims these crackdowns are an assault on civil liberties. “Stop the raids! National Guard OUT of LA!” PSL declared in a statement, calling the deployment an attempt to “intimidate” people from exercising their First Amendment rights.
A Revolutionary Platform and Hostile Foreign Policy Stance
PSL’s platform does not merely critique U.S. immigration policy — it advocates the wholesale dismantling of the American political and economic system. Its website states that “capitalism cannot be voted out of power — it will take a revolution.” Its 2024 presidential platform opposes nearly all U.S. foreign policy efforts aimed at countering regimes in China, Russia, Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela, while calling for the abolition of NATO and AFRICOM.
The group also runs a “Liberation School” offering online Marxist education and sells revolutionary-themed merchandise featuring Communist icons and slogans like “The Future is Communist!”
Ties to Chinese-Linked Funding Network
PSL has been linked to the financial network of Neville Roy Singham, a wealthy tech entrepreneur known for his Marxist ideology and favorable stance toward the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). According to multiple reports, Singham has directed funds to PSL-aligned initiatives through nonprofits such as The People’s Forum, BreakThrough News, and the Justice and Education Fund — all of which share staff, ideology, and even office space.
The Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) has assessed that PSL shares “fiscal and personnel connections” with Singham-linked entities. These organizations have produced content echoing CCP talking points and have supported protests at institutions like Columbia University and rallies demanding the dismantling of immigration enforcement nationwide.
Praise for Communist Regimes
PSL has publicly expressed support for Communist governments, including those of Cuba and China. Its website features writings that praise the Chinese Communist Party and minimize or revise historical events such as the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre. The group regularly celebrates anniversaries of the Cuban Revolution and publishes materials glorifying figures like Lenin, Stalin, and other Marxist leaders.
Denial of Extremist Ties
Following the arrest of Elias Rodriguez, who murdered two Israeli embassy staff in Washington, D.C. and reportedly shouted anti-Israel slogans, PSL quickly distanced itself. Though Rodriguez was once associated with a local chapter and appeared in a PSL-linked publication in 2017, the group has since disavowed any connection.
Conclusion
While PSL claims to advocate for social justice and immigrant rights, its extensive ties to foreign-aligned Marxist funding networks and its revolutionary rhetoric have raised concerns among national security experts. Its growing influence in protest movements — particularly those that devolve into violence — has prompted broader questions about the line between constitutionally protected dissent and ideologically driven subversion.
As immigration policy remains a flashpoint in American politics, the presence of overtly revolutionary groups like PSL at the forefront of activism adds complexity to the national conversation — particularly when such groups receive support from networks that have expressed admiration for authoritarian governments.
