In a recent discussion with Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, Naomi Wolf shared her journey from a young woman with original ambitions to a successful author and feminist icon. Her groundbreaking work on the societal construction of beauty in The Beauty Myth made her an international bestseller and a leading voice of the third wave feminist movement. However, her scholarly career was derailed due to misogyny, which prompted her to leave academia and pursue writing full-time. Despite the challenges, Dr. Wolf continued to write prolifically, penning books such as The End of America and Vagina: A New Biography.
Despite her past successes, Wolf has recently faced criticism for her stance on vaccination and COVID-19. Her skepticism regarding vaccine safety and efficacy has led to accusations of being an “anti-vaxxer” and a “conspiracy theorist.” Undeterred, Wolf tackled these accusations head-on by writing her most recent book, The Bodies of Others: The New Authoritarians, COVID-19 and The War Against the Human. In this book, she explores the societal impact of the pandemic and how governments have used it to justify authoritarian measures that erode human rights.
However, Dr. Wolf’s criticism of the mainstream narrative surrounding COVID-19 has also led to backlash from the left, whom she had previously been a vocal supporter of. Despite her contributions to the feminist movement and her status as a best-selling author, her views on COVID-19 have led to her being shunned by some in the mainstream media. Dr. Wolf’s journey demonstrates the challenges faced by those who question the dominant narrative and the courage required to speak out against it.

Your experiences as Yale in the early 80’s were very similar to mine. Your mentioning the pre-sexual harassment laws was a “trigger” for me…LOL. In 1978, I was a 21 year old State Trooper. It was horrific and that’s saying something since I also spent 1974-1977 in the US Army. The military had JUST opened up the fields, other than being a secretary or a nurse, to women. But three years in the Army was nothing compared to what I dealt with as a police officer in 1978!!!!
