In a heartfelt online post, Uvalde’s most well known son, Matthew McConaughey addressed the School Shooting in his home town:
“As you all are aware there was another mass shooting today, this time in my
home town of Uvalde, Texas. Once again, we have tragically proven that we
are failing to be responsible for the rights our freedoms grant us.
The true call to action now is for every American to take a longer and deeper
look in the mirror, and ask ourselves, ‘What is it that we truly value? How do we repair the problem? What small sacrifices can we individually take today, to preserve a healthier and safer nation, state, and neighborhood
tomorrow?’ We cannot exhale once again, make excuses, and accept these
tragic realities as the status quo.
As Americans, Texans, mothers and fathers, it’s time we re-evaluate, and
renegotiate our wants from our needs. We have to rearrange our values and
find a common ground above this devastating American reality that has
tragically become our children’s issue.
This is an epidemic we can control, and whichever side of the aisle we may
stand on, we all know we can do better. We must do better. Action must be
taken so that no parent has to experience what the parents in Uvalde and the
others before them have endured.
And to those who dropped off their loved ones today not knowing it was
goodbye, no words can comprehend or heal your loss, but if prayers can
provide comfort, we will keep them coming.”
Not to downplay the horrific suffering of these people one bit but wouldn’t a good start being to CLOSE and LOCK the back door when seeing a rifle0toting nut approach the school? I lost my only brother at 14 and saw what hole it blew through both my parents when he was killed in Vietnam, a tragic and avoidable senseless death.

It is a good thing you dropped out. Your message changes with the winds. Return to a morality and societal norm that values the sanctity of life. Stop saving the lives of murderers. Reinstitute the death penalty. Rehabilitation parole programs create nothing but repeat offenders and more victims. Teach gun safety and responsibility to children.

None that involve the infringement of God given LIBERTY. How is it that guns are the problem in the hands of law abiding citizens but the answer in the hands of government deputized officers who should have intervened sooner? You can’t have it both ways. No one wants to talk about the FACT that it was an off duty border patrol officer with a shotgun that went in, saved his wife and daughter, then returned to kill the shooter while police stood outside doing nothing. How many more would have died were it not for the FREEDOM we have as citizens making it possible for this man to act when police would not?
