“Every Drug Has Its Own Nutritional Cost”
Dr. Robert Seik, PharmD, FMNM, is a compounding pharmacist, and owner of Partell Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy in Las Vegas.
Dr. Seik’s pharmacy has been in business for over twenty years and is known for taking forward-thinking approaches toward traditional medical challenges to benefit his clients. Dr. Seik is a natural fit for The Wellness Company, founded by Foster Coulson, that according to its mission statement “strives to build a new health care system that earns people’s trust, governed and operated with transparency, and offering the highest quality practitioners who align at their core with our fundamental belief – to put the patient first.”
Dr. Seik became the first independent pharmacist with whom TWC partnered. Dr. Seik has experience in the field of biotechnology, as well as the pharmaceutical industry.
Dr. Seik joined the Dr. Naomi Wolf of the DailyClout to discuss his partnership with The Wellness Company, and their shared goal of focusing on what the future of medicine will become, which includes repurposing old drugs, fewer overall prescriptions, and focusing on the health and wellness of the patients.
Watch Now:
Dr. Seik began their discussion by explaining how he became a “reluctant” pharmacy owner. After he graduated and began working as a pharmacist in retail pharmacies, Dr. Seik noticed that the number of medications patients were taking increased with age. It didn’t feel right to Dr. Seik, who ended up leaving retail and working as a sales rep for a pharmaceutical company for a short while. Dr. Seik’s career then took an interesting turn, and a biotechnology company hired him to run clinical trials, where he had the opportunity to learn a lot, both about epidemiology and the pharmaceutical industry itself.
In 2005, Dr. Seik bought the pharmacy in Las Vegas that he currently owns today. He instinctively understood that people were actively seeking ways to improve their health with fewer drugs. Las Vegas is known for its retirement community, and Dr. Seik treated many patients who worked long careers in hazardous conditions, such as coal miners or people who worked at a nuclear reactor plant.
“The Chemical Makeup of Those Particles is So Stubborn”
Dr. Wolf asked Dr. Seik if his experience treating the long-term effects of exposure to heavy metals has led him to come up with any promising treatment for breaking up the lipid nanoparticles that house the mRNA in the COVID injections.
Dr. Seik responded that unfortunately, he has not, as the “chemical makeup of the lipid nanoparticles is so stubborn”, and while there are theories out there as to how to break it up, there’s no proven research.
Expelling Heavy Metal Toxins
Dr. Seik explained that the process of removing heavy metals from someone’s body is very different, as it requires a slow and careful approach while protecting vital organs such as the kidneys. When a body absorbs toxins faster than it can expel them, the toxins accumulate in the fat and must be removed slowly. Dr. Seik mentioned that a dry heat sauna together with taking a supplement called NAC is helpful in accelerating the process of removing heavy metal toxins.
Dr. Seik divides his customers into two categories. The first is medical practitioners, who often have questions, many of whom seek out collaboration and advice from Dr. Seik. Neither the medical practitioners nor the pharmacists were trained ins therapeutics and nutrition in medical school. The second category is patients who are seeking to minimize the amount of drugs they’re on and aim for a healthier lifestyle.
“Every Drug Has Its Own Nutritional Cost”
Dr. Seik said that every drug has its own nutritional cost, meaning you have to “make up” nutrients that drugs deplete, which is something that The Wellness Company is trained in navigating.
According to Dr. Seik, public interest in this discussion is growing rapidly, and people are beginning to understand that prescription drugs deplete nutrients, as does the common food supply, causing the need for more drugs, and the pile of pills grows decade over decade.
The Big Chain Drugstores Own the Prescription Insurance Plans
Dr. Seik explained that the big chain drugstores like CVS and Walgreens also own something called Pharmacy Benefit Management, or the PBMs. According to the American Pharmacists Association, “PBMs are primarily responsible for developing and maintaining the formulary, contracting with pharmacies, negotiating discounts and rebates with drug manufacturers, and processing and paying prescription drug claims.”
Were Dr. Seik to operate a typical retail private pharmacy, he could never compete with the big chain pharmacies, who own the PBMs as well as the retail stores and can afford to keep drug costs low, and customers coming through their doors.
A Healthy Way Forward
Dr. Seik’s pharmacy helps patients transition to a healthier lifestyle, and decrease their dependence on prescription drugs. He does dispense prescription pharmaceuticals when necessary and is licensed in all 50 states, but keeps his focus on nutritional supplements and hormone therapy treatment.
Dr. Seik has developed a strong relationship with his health-minded patients, which has grown into a community. Dr. Seik personally keeps a line of communication with his patients and is happy to steer them towards a continuously healthy lifestyle.
