SUMMARY: The USS Harry S. Truman, a U.S. aircraft carrier, collided with the Panamanian-flagged cargo ship Besiktas-M in the Mediterranean Sea near Port Said, Egypt, on the night of February 12. The collision occurred as the carrier was waiting to enter the Suez Canal. No injuries or flooding were reported on the Truman, and its propulsion systems were unaffected. The damage to the carrier is above the waterline, and the incident is under investigation. The Besiktas-M suffered minor damage but remained operational without injuries to its crew. The Truman had been operating in the Red Sea to protect commercial vessels from Houthi militant attacks.
