“Family Friendly” Health Club in UK Allows Biological Males to Use Female Changing Rooms
Dear DailyClout,
I’m a mum in York, United Kingdom with two daughters, aged 11 and 13.
I’m attempting to sue and shame David Lloyd Leisure. This is Europe’s largest “family friendly” health club, part of TDR capital. They currently have 730k members including children.
My question back in January was: “Does our family membership include the prospect of our 11 and 13-year-old daughters being naked with men whilst in the female changing room?”
The short answer is yes. I have letters confirming that children over 8 years old must use changing according to their sex (stated in their terms and conditions online). However, crucially, they have written to me confirming that there is ‘no prescribed expectation for adult members with regard to changing room use’.
Worryingly, they don’t want their members to know this information. Therefore I am suing for discrimination of my gender critical beliefs and sex discrimination. This is one of the first cases being brought on the provision of services (rather than employment) which will hopefully send a strong message to service providers to provide clear information about access to single-sex facilities.
