Letter to the Editors: FEMA

To the Editors,
Congratulations on your show with Emerald. I was able to catch it today and have related comments on FEMA, particularly about the FEMA’s obstruction of progress and the difference after President Trump’s visit to the Appalachian region.
FEMA has a lot to hide. Federal financial fraud and embezzlement of FEMA funds as FEMA looked the other way.
The South San Francisco Fire Department applied for and received a $2.2 million FEMA grant in 2009 for remodelling and upgrading a fire station. Simultaneously, the City of South San Francisco’s planning department was conducting a 98-acre redevelopment project which included the specific fire station that was to be sold, not remodelled.
The fire department officer/applicant told me (recorded) that he received between $25-$30 Million in grants from FEMA in his time.  FEMA’s Articles of Authority restrict grantees from diverting funding to other projects. An online search confirms DOJ prosecutions nationwide for embezzlement schemes in fire departments of FEMA grants.
I’ve further found that the SSF Fire Department has been funding a particular NGO (Fire Chief’s Association), which we suspect is funding political ground-game for local political campaigns.   I am hoping the new DOJ will investigate corruption in SSF.
