Friend —
Welcome to Repro Roundup, a monthly reminder from #VOTEPROCHOICE about the status of reproductive freedom, as well as impactful ways to protect our bodily autonomy.
Thank you for being here. Even during a global public health emergency, anti-choice politicians will stop at nothing to ban abortion, despite the fact that 80% of Americans support Roe v Wade.
In six months, we will cast ballots deciding the outcome of 95,000 different elections across the country, and it’s up to us to ensure that come November 3, 2020 — a new class of prochoice champions will flood the halls of power.
Until then, we won’t stay silent. |

Here’s the situation:
As of today, 12 states have tried to ban abortion by classifying it as a non-essential procedure. In every case, these states have a history of attempting to push abortion-care out of reach.Courts have blocked bans in Alabama, Iowa, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, while Louisiana and Texas lifted their bans after rounds of litigation.
Some kind of ban remains in effect in Arkansas, Alaska, Indiana, Mississippi, and West Virginia.

During this moment of misinformation and rapidly changing court rulings, expertise and education are crucial.
Alongside the Women’s March, we’re hosting a webinar discussion on the fight for reproductive freedom during COVID-19.
Join us tomorrow, Thursday May 7 at 8pm EST to hear from a panel of experts on the status of bans, the upcoming Supreme Court rulings in June, and how we can take meaningful action from home! |

Looking ahead:
Now more than ever, it’s clear that the most dangerous attacks on reproductive freedom come from the state and local levels. The flurry of state bans enacted in the past year are on a path straight toward SCOTUS, starting with Russo v. June Medical Services.
Electing prochoice candidates in every single race is the only solution.

Thank you for being a prochoice champion, especially when it’s inconvenient by design.
