A Letter to DailyClout: No Recording of Public Meetings
Dear DailyClout,
Thank you for the work you have done to expose and share the truth.
You have access to hundreds of attorneys. I think this might be something that you can help us with.
I encountered an issue with our local school board records. It is a result of the state minimum recording requirements. Our town, Point Pleasant, NJ maintains “minutes” that provide the names of some of the public speakers but none of the content. Further, upon invitation to listen to their source audio recording, we learned that the recording was not at all comprehensible.
The school board attorney said that they are compliant with lN.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1. An audio recording is not required nor apparently does it need to be comprehensible if it is recorded.
So much valuable information was lost during Covid for people who could not attend meetings in person. We had people saying how they did not catch Covid, even after working in an oral surgeon’s office for months. I believe that information could have helped tremendously in reducing the fear factor. and therefore possibly the compliance factor.
The most valuable information was lost on November 22, 2021. When a nurse came to speak and they told the BOE about children already being injured from the jab and a child had DIED. In our town! Only a handful of people at that meeting heard it. Most people, unfortunately, stopped going to the meetings after the mask mandate was lifted. Remember that the approval for the jab to 5-12-year-olds had only been given on October 29, 2021. So, in less than a month, at least one child had died!
I went to read the transcripts and found that the Public Portion is not recorded on the minutes of the meeting. Then I went to the municipal office to listen to the recording to get the name of the nurse so that I could contact her and that is when I found that the recording was made with a 30-year-old Sony tape-recorded and nothing was legible, not even myself.
I wrote to the board and asked them to improve their recording so that someone interested could come and listen. Their response: “WE VOTED IN MARCH 2022 TO NOT RECORD ANYTHING, not even their meeting portion.”
You have access to hundreds of lawyers. Any chance you can get advice on how we can counter this? We would like to see it mandated in ALL towns. Our neighbor town, Brick, NJ records and posts simultaneously.
Our town received over 300K in Covid money and still will not do anything. We need at least one place where we can all turn to get the latest information about what is happening in our community that affects our children.
As a minimum, if the town would record, I could obtain a copy and post it myself. I just don’t have the ability to record with any quality.
Thank you for any assistance you can offer. We are a blue state and writing to our legislators is not useful.
Sincerely,
A Reader
Get a copy of the board’s bylaws. Perhaps it is mandated somewhere in them to give you some leverage.
