White House Touts $3,752 Average Tax Cut Under One Big Beautiful Bill Act

August 18, 2025 • by DailyClout

The White House is highlighting new economic analysis that projects American taxpayers will enjoy an average $3,752 federal tax cut in 2026 thanks to provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA).

The analysis, released by the nonpartisan Tax Foundation, indicates that taxpayers in every U.S. state will see lower taxes, though benefits will vary significantly across regions.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly framed the cuts as historic:

“President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill is the largest, most consequential tax cut on the middle class ever. Between lower inflation, massive investments, and historic tax cuts, all Americans are reaping the benefits of the Trump Economy – and the Golden Age has just begun.”

Key Provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act

Republicans’ multitrillion-dollar OBBBA extends and expands on earlier tax legislation, most notably the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Major provisions include:

  • Permanent across-the-board reduced tax rates

  • A $15,000 standard deduction

  • A $2,000 Child Tax Credit

  • A 20% Qualified Business Income (QBI) deduction for small businesses

  • A $750,000 mortgage interest deduction cap

The legislation also makes three significant business tax credits permanent:

  1. Full reimbursement for new capital investments such as machinery and equipment

  2. Expanded deduction for corporations’ interest on debt

  3. Immediate deductions for research costs

Additionally, the law introduced temporary provisions (expiring in 2030), including:

  • A quadrupled SALT deduction cap ($40,000 vs. the previous $10,000)

  • A $6,000 deduction for seniors

  • Tax deductions for tips and overtime pay (capped at $25,000 for single filers, $12,500 for others)

Who Benefits Most?

The Tax Foundation’s analysis shows that average tax savings vary by geography:

  • Wyoming, Washington, and Massachusetts taxpayers will see the largest cuts in 2026, averaging around $5,100.

  • West Virginia and Mississippi residents will see the smallest average cuts, around $2,400.

  • Locally, mountain resort towns are expected to enjoy the highest benefits, while rural counties will see the least.

Overall, the report estimates that the OBBBA’s tax provisions will lower taxes in every state and create 938,000 full-time jobs in the long run.

Long-Term Outlook and National Debt Concerns

While households will see tax relief, analysts warn of fiscal consequences. Once temporary provisions expire in 2030, the average tax cut will drop to $2,505, before climbing again to $3,301 by 2035 due to inflation adjustments.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) cautions that the OBBBA will add $4.1 trillion to the national debt by 2034. With the U.S. debt already surpassing $37 trillion, critics argue that the legislation may worsen America’s fiscal health even as it provides short-term relief to taxpayers.

Conclusion

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act tax cuts mark a sweeping continuation of Trump-era tax policy, promising historic relief for individuals, families, and small businesses. However, while taxpayers may welcome average savings of nearly $4,000 in 2026, questions remain over how much additional debt the country can afford.

As the White House frames this as a milestone for the “Trump Economy,” budget watchdogs continue to sound alarms over long-term fiscal sustainability.
