Angel Studios’ SOUND OF FREEDOM Passes $100M Box Office Milestone
Independent Film Continues to Dominate the Summer Box Office and Continues to Add Screens, Three Weeks After Release
(PROVO, Utah — July 20, 2023) Angel Studios, the platform empowering filmmakers with full creative control to crowdfund and create, has reached a new theatrical milestone. It’s an independent summer hit, SOUND of FREEDOM. has now sold over 8.9 million tickets, and the film has now passed $100M in box office revenue.

It was chosen by over 100,000 people in the Angel Guild, fueled by untold tens of thousands through our ‘Pay it Forward’ program, and is dominating the box office as the result of a ground-up, grassroots movement of everyday people who are making this a historic success,” said Jared Geesey, SVP of Global Distribution with Angel Studios. “This is the opposite of the top-down system developed by Hollywood gatekeepers. The Angel Guild is a community of over 100k people who are the most engaged in the Angel Studios’ network. The Angel Guild votes on all eligible films submitted to Angel Studios. Filmmakers must pass the Angel Guild to be distributed by Angel Studios.
SOUND of FREEDOM continues to dominate the US box office. Demand has allowed the film’s screen count to continue to increase, reaching a third-week total of 3,287. Since the film’s July 4 release, SOUND of FREEDOM has never left the top 3 positions on the charts and has totaled over $100M in domestic box office since its July 4 release.
