New Intel Warnings Reveal Foreign Plots Inside the U.S.

November 24, 2025 • by DailyClout

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rick Crawford, R-Ark., is calling for sweeping counterintelligence reforms across America’s spy agencies, warning that foreign governments and domestic collaborators are working together to sow division and destabilize the United States.

“I think there is a whole network of both state and non-state actors exploiting political divides and even fractures within individual parties,” Crawford told Just the News in a recent interview. “We’ve clearly seen malign influence from China, Russia, and Iran, but there are also non-state actors acting on behalf of nation-states.”

Crawford said adversaries are increasingly using cyber operations, influence networks, and diaspora communities to advance foreign interests. “Imagine Russia paying for cyberattacks, or China mobilizing people living here who still feel an allegiance to the mother country,” he said. “China is absolutely trying to exploit that.”

A “More Robust” Counterintelligence Push

The blending of foreign malign activity with U.S.-based actors, Crawford warned, makes counterintelligence reform a national-security priority. He praised FBI Director Kash Patel for bringing new thinking to the intelligence community and urged other agencies to adopt similar structural changes.

“We need to be able to detect, intercept, and disrupt these efforts to protect our citizens,” Crawford said on Just the News, No Noise. He argued for a whole-of-government strategy, integrating law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and outside expertise to strengthen America’s defensive posture. “If we bring all of that together, we can build a much more robust counterintelligence effort.”

Crawford pointed to recent incidents involving Chinese nationals in Michigan and a thwarted attempt to hack phone systems at the U.N. General Assembly as examples of the evolving threat environment. He credited the FBI for recent successes but said more work is needed on the intelligence-gathering side of counterintelligence—work that doesn’t always result in arrests.

“Some agencies are excellent at counterintelligence but lack law-enforcement authority,” he explained. “They can still exploit networks, turn assets, and protect American secrets. That intelligence can give us deep insight into how foreign powers operate here, even when cases don’t end in arrests.”

Treasury Steps Up

Crawford’s push aligns with expanded efforts at the Treasury Department, IRS, and FBI to investigate foreign influence funneled through U.S. nonprofits. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, speaking on the late Charlie Kirk’s podcast, said the department is prioritizing tracing the flow of outside money behind domestic unrest.

“Charlie’s death is like a domestic 9/11,” Bessent said. “Just as we pursued bin Laden, we are operationalizing the Treasury to track down who is responsible. We’re investigating how much support is coming from overseas and how much is moving through U.S. nonprofits. This is mission-critical.”

Patel: “Follow the Money”

FBI Director Kash Patel has accelerated efforts to map out the funding and command structures behind extremist groups such as Antifa, as well as attackers targeting ICE agents, coordinating illegal-immigrant movements, and promoting antisemitic agitation on college campuses. Patel told Just the News that investigators are seeing indications of foreign involvement and financial support flowing through tax-exempt nonprofits.

“Money doesn’t lie,” Patel said. “We are following the money, and thanks to President Trump, Antifa is now rightly designated as a domestic terror organization. We have multiple investigations underway.”

Patel added that social-media influencers and independent reporters are assisting by providing ground-level intelligence from areas law enforcement cannot easily access. “They’re the ones brave enough to go into these spaces,” he said. “They’re helping us map out the networks.”
