Their letter specifically urged the governor to allocate part of a $50 million school security budget to protect Christian, Jewish, and Muslim schools.

In response, Walz’s office said the governor “cares deeply about student safety” and has signed other school safety measures into law, while affirming that private schools already receive some state funding. President Donald Trump has since ordered U.S. flags flown at half-staff in honor of the slain children, underscoring the gravity of the tragedy.
