The cost of a standard three-day treatment skyrocketed from $31.92 to $2,656.80. The reason given for the price surge was its outstanding effectiveness and monopoly by a single pharmaceutical company at the time. (Perhaps the 2002 study on lung cancer had something to do with this4?)
How Mebendazole and Ivermectin Work Together
Mebendazole’s mechanism of action is twofold:
- It disrupts microtubules — the structural framework within cells — by binding to tubulin proteins.
- It impairs glucose uptake, starving parasites of energy.
Interestingly, these same mechanisms may also make it effective against cancer. By disrupting cell division and depriving cancer cells of their energy supply, mebendazole has demonstrated potential as an anti-cancer agent in laboratory and animal studies.
