“HALL OF SHAME”: Maldives Puts Travellers in State-Run Quarantine ‘Accomodations’ for 14 Days at Own Expense upon Positive PCR Test’

Our Resort Team can assist with the coordination of PCR testing at the property. The traveller will be required to inform the Resort Team 72 hours in advance prior to departure. This is to ensure all guidelines and protocols are followed, when conducting the test. This can be facilitated by the Resort Doctor and costs for PCR testing at US$85.00 per person will have to borne by the traveller.|The Resort Team will assist you to coordinate with the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and Ministry of Tourism (MOT/SMU) for any transit requirements. Based on HPA recommendations, alternative accommodation options can be made upon request. The additional cost implications for same will have to be borne directly by the traveller.|If any traveller is tested positive for COVID-19, he/she will be required to complete the mandatory 14-days isolation/quarantine period at the resort’s designated quarantine facility or be transferred to a state managed quarantine centre (on availability) and be charged accordingly. An option for a second test shall not be permitted by the authorities. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) will notify the test result to the doctor/healthcare professional or main contact point at the Resort, including the Clinical Management Advisory Team (CMAT) and Ministry of Tourism.|Estimated cost for quarantine at the resort designated accommodation will be US$120 per person per day including Medicare, meals, water and soft drinks.|An inconclusive PCR test result is a rare occurrence. However, if the event is to occur, the healthcare professionals will keep yourself and the resort team informed. A repeat test will be conducted, and the results will be shared accordingly.
