WEST COAST WEST: [WATCH] Grassrooots Celebrate After LAUSD Delays Vaccine Mandate
Tuesday December 14, 2021- Daily Clout correspondent West Seegmiller captures the reaction of parents, teachers, students and medical freedom advocates after the Los Angeles Unified School District voted to delay enforcement of the Covid-19 vaccine mandate. LAUSD would have moved ahead of the CDC’s ACIP hearing (Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices) scheduled for early next year. The School Board claims that they delayed enforcement due to a lack of resources.
“I felt like we were ending up with a situation in which those who complied would be the most negatively affected,” school board member Jackie Goldberg said. “I think we have no choice.”
She added that those opposed to COVID-19 vaccinations cannot claim victory. “I want to tell those of you who come and … think you pushed us back. No, you didn’t. The mandate remains.”
ACIP has yet to determine if the COVID-19 vaccines should be added to the childhood schedule as a requirement to attend public school, as the vaccine is not yet licensed for use in children.
The LAUSD board says the issue will be revisited in 2022. For now, parents, teachers, staff, students and medical freedom advocates, grateful for this win, are enjoying their shared victory.
