NY Take Action: Gov. Cuomo declares bogus “disaster emergency” to allow him to rule by decree again
Yesterday, just 12 days after New York Governor Andrew Cuomo ended his disastrous Covid State of Emergency, he declared yet another “disaster emergency,” this time in response to the increase in gun violence during his previous “emergency.” This is an outrageous abuse of power that he is clearly using to circumvent the legislature, and other types of oversight required by Constitutional government.
“Emergencies” are a favored tool around the world and throughout history for political leaders with dictatorial aspirations. Clearly, Cuomo likes “emergencies.” They allow him to rule by decree, they allow him to disregard any law he wants to, he is freed from bothersome shackles on his rule like the legislature, democratic procedure, and the New York and United States Constitutions, and the Bill of Rights.
Cuomo has designated the Department of Health under Howard Zucker, the same people who brought us the policy of placing people with active Covid cases into nursing homes and then covering up the death toll for months, those folks will be in charge of this new effort. After giving New York the second highest Covid death rate among the states, they are the obvious choice.

Cuomo also announced a laundry list of minor proposals to address the upsurge in shootings, the most important of which is the creation of a $138 million slush fund he can use as he wants.
But what’s next? In a state of emergency he can do anything.
