I’m so glad for your comments about Charlie Kirk, and the reading of the poem. It’s one of the few I recall from my schooling.
I didn’t know anything about Charlie Kirk until I looked him up on youtube. What I found right away was a short video posted after his murder that said, “Charlie Kirk hated Gays?” The video was of Charlie trying to answer a man who was so angry because Charlie would not say anything negative about Gays. The man kept shouting, “Are you a Christian?!” , and Charlie repeatedly answered, “Is this a theocracy?” That man was so angry with his answer.
And I briefly watched another video of Kirk with a crowd of students, and even though some were angry with him, he answered in a calm, caring way. It seemed to me that Charlie Kirk genuinely liked people, maybe actually loved people. And of course, he mentioned the importance of our Constitution and the Freedom of Speech.
Please don’t start to feel cowardly because you are afraid for your safety. I encourage you to follow your instincts about that, especially with what’s going on with the sociopathic nitwits who may be dangerous. Take a break for a while, maybe. We need your voice and leadership to be around a long time! Your talks online will have to suffice for a while. And your children, husband and other loved ones need you.
Like you, I am still a liberal, and I can’t believe what is happening in the UK, etc. So much for the Magna Carta. Just saw their prime minister declare that if someone doesn’t have a digital ID, they will not be able to work! Disgusting, power hungry traitor. I can’t help but think of the great Winston Churchill, the Blitz, and all the Brits, Americans, French, etc who fought off, with many dying and disabled – but finally defeated the nightmare of the evil, murderous, barbaric Hitler and his German nazis. That was back in the 40’s. Not even 100 years ago!
Hang in there! You are loved, admired, valued, and I truly wonder if there are not a lot of ugly bots being planted on your commentaries. But safety first.
