The dismissal comes amid broader turbulence at the department: sources say FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is considering resignation following clashes with Bondi over an internal review of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. While unrelated to Moore’s case, the dispute underscores ongoing tensions within federal law-enforcement leadership.
Legal analysts note that Saturday’s action does not preclude future civil proceedings or professional licensing reviews against Moore. However, the criminal matter is now closed unless the Justice Department seeks reinstatement—an unlikely outcome given the attorney general’s definitive statement.
