Dear Friends,
Yesterday, Senator Kim Thatcher (R-Keizer) fought for Oregonians’ medical freedom by attempting to force a vote on SB 872, a bill to ban vaccine passports in Oregon. Unfortunately, the vote on SB 872 was blocked.
SB 872 would protect Oregonians’ medical autonomy and
privacy regardless of medical history or vaccination status. It would prohibit any public body or private entity from requiring Oregonians to get the experimental COVID-19 vaccination or to show evidence certifying a vaccine or immunity status.
“It is a shame that more elected officials refuse to defend Oregonians’ medical autonomy and privacy,” said Sen. Thatcher. “With the bill that would protect Oregonians from draconian vaccine passports officially dead, the possibility for vaccine passports in the state is very real.”
Gov. Kate Brown recently announced plans to
finally reopen Oregon on June 30, but that does not mean an end to her emergency powers. Mask mandates and social distancing measures will be rolled back for now, but kids are still being
forced to wear them in school. Gov. Brown is maintaining dictatorial power over Oregonians until December 31, 2021. With her unconstitutional emergency powers still in place, Gov. Brown can push the state back in lockdown and force any number of policies on Oregonians, such as vaccine passports.
“The power to decide when Oregon reopens should not be the responsibility of a power-hungry governor like Brown,” said Sen. Thatcher. “Oregonians need to take back their freedom.”
Sen. Thatcher continued, “Oregonians should not fall into a trap of complacency as the state reopens. Leftist-run institutions such as universities will likely continue to require the experimental vaccine and public arenas will probably continue to
segregate people based on vaccination status.
“Vaccine passports are discriminatory. Oregonians should not be discriminated against for their medical freedom.”
