About SB-135

Virginia All-Payer Claims Database; creation. Establishes the Virginia All-Payer Claims Database system, in order to facilitate data-driven, evidence-based improvements in access, quality, and cost of health care and to improve the public health through understanding of health care expenditure patterns and operation and performance of the health care system. Entities that choose to submit claims data to the database shall do so pursuant to data use and submission agreements executed with the nonprofit organization that contracts with the Commissioner of Health for public health data needs. The bill also directs the Commissioner to develop a work group to study continuing health information needs in the Commonwealth.
