Explanation of H.R. 6135 "Keep Families Together Act"
This bill aims to limit the separation of families who are at or near ports of entry in the United States. It prohibits agents or officers from removing a child from their parent or legal guardian unless certain conditions are met. These conditions include a court order terminating the parental rights, determining that it's in the child's best interest to be removed, or if the parent is deemed a danger to the child.
