This Act will increase the protections against criminal firearms violence afforded to our children by creating a new crime called Possession of a Firearm or Destructive Weapon in a Safe School Zone. An Act To Amend Title 13 Of The Delaware Code Relating To Domestic Relations To Provide For Same-gender Civil Marriage And To Convert Existing Civil Unions To Civil Marriages. [HB-75]
This Act repeals the prohibition on same-gender marriage that was enacted in 1996. The effect of this Act is to allow two individuals, whether of the same or different genders, to marry if otherwise eligible. Upon the effectiveness of this Act, no new civil unions will be formed in Delaware. An Act To Amend Title 25 Of The Delaware Code Relating To Surety Bonds For Rental Property. [HB-92]
This bill amends the landlord/tenant code to permit the use of a surety bond in place of a security deposit. Instead of paying a refundable security deposit, a tenant may, if the landlord permits, purchase a nonrefundable “surety bond” for a percentage of the security deposit amount. The issuer of the surety bond would then be liable to the landlord in the event the tenant does not pay for any damages sustained by the landlord due to non-payment of rent, breach of lease, or damage to the rental property.
