Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act
Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act
This bill aims to amend existing laws to require healthcare practitioners to provide proper care to infants who survive abortions or attempted abortions. It establishes that infants born alive after an abortion deserve the same legal protections and care as any other newborn. Healthcare practitioners who fail to provide necessary care and transport the child to a hospital can face fines or imprisonment.
The bill also allows for civil actions by women who have undergone abortions if proper care is not provided to an infant born alive. It includes definitions for terms like abortion and attempt, as well as penalties for intentional harm to a child born alive after an abortion.
