Mr. G AETZ (for himself, Mr. G OSAR , Mr. B IGGS, Ms. G REENE of Georgia, Mr. BISHOP of North Carolina, Ms. H AGEMAN , and Mr. M ILLS) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, and in addition to the Committees on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Judiciary, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

RESOLUTION

Expressing the sense of Congress that the proposed purchase of a new, suburban headquarters for the Federal Bureau of Investigation outside of the District of Columbia, should be quashed.

Whereas the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is being investigated by Congress;

Whereas the Washington Field Office of the FBI has been using its power against the American people in a way that goes against its main law enforcement purpose, and has started to target Americans in a politically biased manner;

Whereas the Washington Field Office of the FBI has been pressuring other field offices for political reasons, rather than legitimate law enforcement purposes;

Whereas the Washington Field Office of the FBI has been ignoring legitimate leads in criminal investigations and initiating investigations against American citizens for exercising their First Amendment rights, against the objections of other FBI field offices;

Whereas the Washington Field Office of the FBI has tried to manipulate Members of the Senate by providing false classified briefings;

Whereas the Washington Field Office of the FBI has colluded with private companies during elections to censor information that is harmful to certain political candidates;

Whereas the Washington Field Office of the FBI has targeted parents who criticize school board decisions;

Whereas building a new headquarters for the FBI at this time would distract from the important oversight of its politicization;

Whereas it is inappropriate for a domestic law enforcement agency that employs only 2.3% of the personnel of the United States military to have a headquarters larger than the Pentagon;

Whereas constructing a new headquarters would support and enable the nefarious behavior of the Washington Field Office of the FBI; and

Whereas there is credible evidence before Congress to support all of the aforementioned issues: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This resolution may be cited as the 'FBI Washington Field Office House Arrest Act'.

SEC. 2. SENSE OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

No money should be appropriated for the General Services Administration or the Federal Bureau of Investigation to either plan to, or acquire property for, a new, consolidated headquarters outside the District of Columbia.
