AT THE FIRST SESSION Begun and held at the City of Washington on Tuesday, the third day of January, two thousand and seventeen
An Act: To designate the community living center of the Department of Veterans Affairs in Butler Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, as the ‘‘Sergeant Joseph George Kusick VA Community Living Center’’.
SECTION 1. FINDINGS
Congress has found the following:
- Sergeant Joseph George Kusick served in the Army during the Vietnam War and showed exceptional bravery in a combat mission in 1967.
- Kusick refused evacuation despite being seriously wounded, and continued to direct landings and extraction efforts with his radio even when under enemy fire.
- He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star Medal for his gallantry in action, sacrificing his life for his unit.
SEC. 2. SERGEANT JOSEPH GEORGE KUSICK VA COMMUNITY LIVING CENTER
(a) DESIGNATION: The community living center in Butler Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, shall be known as the ‘‘Sergeant Joseph George Kusick VA Community Living Center’’.
(b) REFERENCES: Any mention of this center in any official document or record shall now refer to it by the new designation.
