Bill Explanation
This bill is a resolution to designate a portion of Interstate 64 in Jefferson County in honor and memory of Louisville Metro Police Detective Deidre Irene Mengedoht, who tragically lost her life while on duty in December 2018.
Detective Mengedoht was a highly respected officer who started her career as a beat officer before becoming a detective. She was known for her dedication and bravery in serving the community.
The bill recognizes the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers and aims to honor Detective Mengedoht's service by officially naming a section of the highway as the "Det. Deidre "Dee Dee" Mengedoht Memorial Highway."
Within 30 days of the resolution's effective date, the Transportation Cabinet will install appropriate signage along the specified stretch of Interstate 64.
