About S.1394

Amends the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974 regarding the terms of office of the Commissioners of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to declare that any member appointed to fill a vacancy that occurs prior to the expiration of the term of his or her predecessor shall be appointed for the remainder of the predecessor's term. Permits a member who has not been removed by the President for cause to continue to serve on the NRC until the earlier of:

  • (1) the date on which the member's successor has been appointed and confirmed, or
  • (2) the date on which the first new Congress begins after the member's term has expired.
