Bill Summary:

This bill, called the Ratepayer Funding Alternative Act, aims to direct the Secretary of Energy to find alternative ways to fund fish and wildlife programs in order to reduce the costs for Bonneville Power Administration ratepayers. The Secretary of Energy, in collaboration with other federal agencies, will develop funding options that do not burden the customers of Bonneville Power Administration with the cost of these programs.

Section 1: Short Title

This Act may be referred to as the 'Ratepayer Funding Alternative Act'.

Section 2: Fish and Wildlife Program Funding Alternatives

The Secretary of Energy, working with relevant federal agencies, will develop alternative funding options for the fish and wildlife programs of the Bonneville Power Administration. These options will aim to avoid passing on the costs of the programs to the power and transmission service customers of Bonneville Power Administration.

A report detailing the alternative funding options must be submitted to the Committees on Appropriations for the House of Representatives and the Senate within six months of the enactment of this Act.
