Pipeline Inspection Enforcement Act of 2016 This bill directs the Department of Transportation (DOT) to require the person purchasing or operating a gas or hazardous liquid pipeline facility to inspect it to confirm the pipeline's status as active or abandoned. The DOT shall require also, by regulation, that the regulatory authority responsible for inspections of the facility ensure that such an inspection is conducted. The inspection requirement shall apply with respect to newly listed abandoned pipelines as well.
