No. 2043 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Bremond High School football team continued its proud tradition of gridiron success by capturing the University Interscholastic League 2A Division 2 state championship on December 15, 2016, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington; and WHEREAS, Matching up against an undefeated Iraan High School, Bremond rose to the challenge with an outstanding team effort, clinching its 47th straight win and third consecutive state title; even against strong pressure from their opponent, the Tigers maintained a lead throughout the finale, including an explosive second half that resulted in four touchdowns by quarterback and offensive most valuable player Roshauud Paul, to secure a 49-28 victory; and WHEREAS, Bremond dominated its competition in regular season play, relying on a stout defense that forced two shutouts and a dynamic offense that averaged 48 points per game; during their playoff run, the Tigers defeated formidable opponents from Dallas Gateway Charter, Overton, Maud, Tenaha, and Burton High Schools; and WHEREAS, The Tigers benefited throughout the year from important contributions made by each member of the roster; the able leadership of head coach Jeff Kasowski and his staff was also essential to the players' success, as was the constant support of the Bremond community; and WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is the culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and the Bremond players and their fans will treasure the memory of this tremendous accomplishment for years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Bremond High School football team on winning the 2016 UIL 2A Division 2 state championship and extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
