BRAUNSTEIN, GALEF, LUPARDO, SOLAGES, THIELE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Children and Families AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to parents and caretakers who work a late shift The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 410-w of the social services law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 9 to read as follows: 3 9. Parents and caretakers who are otherwise eligible for a child care 4 subsidy shall receive a subsidy when care is necessary to enable them to 5 sleep because they work a late shift and have a child who is under the 6 age of six and not in school for a full school day. The authorization 7 for a subsidy shall be sufficient to allow the parent to obtain up to 8 eight hours of sleep, as needed. 9 ยง 2. This act shall take effect April 1, 2020.
