HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

CONGRATULATING THE 2016 HAWAII HEALTHCARE HEROES FOR THE OUTSTANDING AND EXEMPLARY CARE THEY HAVE DELIVERED TO PATIENTS AND THEIR LOVED ONES ACROSS THE STATE.

 

 

 


                WHEREAS, many of the state's healthcare professionals toil in anonymity, aiding those in need and providing comfort to families without recognition and doing so without any other intent but to improve the quality of life of patients and their loved ones; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Healthcare Association of Hawaii, an organization created in 1939 that represents 160 care-provider organizations within the state, decided to provide a vehicle for patients to recognize healthcare professionals who have had profound impacts on the lives of these patients and their families; and

 

     WHEREAS, in 2016, five healthcare professionals were selected from a large field of nominees for this recognition as representing the types of individuals who routinely provide a quality of care that goes above and beyond; and

 

     WHEREAS, PIXIE BICKEL, RT, a mammogram technician at Queen's Medical Center Radiology Group, has performed mammograms and biopsies for more than two decades; and

 

     WHEREAS, THOMAS J. KANE III, MD, is the founder and director of Kane Orthopedic Institute and a medical director at Queen's Medical Center; and

 

     WHEREAS, CATHERINE MARQUETTE, FNP, is a family nurse practitioner at Hamakua-Kohala Health Center and has served patients there for nearly twenty-three years; and

     WHEREAS, IAN OKAZAKI, MD, is an oncologist with Straub Hospital and has been treating patients with cancer since graduating from medical school; and

 

     WHEREAS, PHUNG LE OUCHI, LPN, is a licensed practical nurse with Hiolani Care Center at Kahala Nui and is working towards her Bachelor of Science in nursing; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-ninth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2017, that this body hereby recognizes these five outstanding individuals who treat their patients with a level of compassion and care that far exceeds expectations and extends to them its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success.
