85R10838 BK-D     By: Anderson of McLennan H.R. No. 547       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Hannah Wang, a senior at Midway High School, was   announced as one of five national winners of the Intellectual   Property Owners Education Foundation's IP Video Contest in 2016;   and          WHEREAS, Competing in the 16-18 age group, Ms. Wang was   recognized for her video explaining the importance of the patent   system to both inventors and the economy, which impressed the   foundation's board and the members of the general public who voted   her project the best in her category; and          WHEREAS, Ms. Wang's stellar showing in the contest earned her   a $5,000 scholarship, and her teacher, Tanya Lacy, was also   presented with a $1,500 referral prize for her classroom; both were   honored at the foundation's awards dinner that was held in   Washington, D.C., on December 6, 2016; and          WHEREAS, Hannah Wang has distinguished herself as a talented   and innovative young woman with a bright future ahead of her, and it   is indeed a pleasure to join in recognizing her for this outstanding   achievement; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas   Legislature hereby congratulate Hannah Wang on being named a   national winner of the Intellectual Property Owners Education   Foundation's 2016 IP Video Contest and extend to her sincere best   wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Ms. Wang as an expression of high regard by the Texas   House of Representatives.
