SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 783          WHEREAS, Figure skater Ian Rawn of Plano has distinguished   himself by placing fourth in his age division at the 2017 Special   Olympics World Winter Games, held March 14-25 in Austria; and            WHEREAS, The only Texan competing in the games, Ian Rawn   was among nearly 2,700 athletes from 105 nations to take part in   the event, which featured contests in nine different winter   sports; and            WHEREAS, A member of the Dallas Figure Skating Club,   Mr. Rawn began skating in 2008 and now spends about nine hours   each week perfecting his skills on the ice; this inspiring Texan   has trained as a Special Olympics global messenger and has served   on the board of Special Olympics Texas; he also enjoys coaching   the Richardson Roadrunners basketball team and volunteering with   the Dallas Fire Rescue Explorers program; and            WHEREAS, With his fine showing at the 2017 Special Olympics   World Winter Games, Ian Rawn has proudly represented his state   and nation in international competition, and he may indeed take   justifiable pride in his outstanding accomplishments; now,   therefore, be it            RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th   Legislature, hereby congratulate Ian Rawn on his fourth place   finish at the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games and extend to   him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further            RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for   Mr. Rawn as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.     Taylor of Collin                 ________________________________          President of the Senate               I hereby certify that the     above Resolution was adopted by     the Senate on May 15, 2017.                 ________________________________          Secretary of the Senate                 ________________________________           Member, Texas Senate
