HR0875LRB101 21590 MST 72518 r 1HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sheila H. 4Schultz of Wheeling; and 5 WHEREAS, A Wheeling resident for more than 65 years, Sheila 6Schultz was elected as a village trustee in 1979 and became the 7first female village president in 1981; she served as village 8president for 16 years; she led Wheeling through a number of 9pivotal decisions that continue to define the village, 10including the purchase of the Palwaukee Airport; she loved 11Wheeling and its citizens and was the true definition of a 12public servant; she worked toward a more equitable environment 13for all residents, dedicating her focus to forming a human 14rights commission and a senior commission; during her tenure, 15Wheeling also created its first senior center, joined 16first-of-their-kind joint municipal organizations the 17Northwest Water Commission and the Solid Waste Agency of 18Northern Cook County, and constructed a new and modernized 19Metra train station to help residents more easily commute 20between the suburbs and Chicago; and 21 WHEREAS, Sheila Schultz served as the president of the 22Northwest Municipal Conference and was active in the senior 23center and the historical society; she was also active with the

HR0875- 2 -LRB101 21590 MST 72518 r 1Northwest Water Commission and many other committees; and 2 WHEREAS, Sheila Schultz will be remembered as a highly 3regarded leader and mentor to many; she loved her Tri Phi 4friends dearly and had a true heart of service; and 5 WHEREAS, Sheila Schultz was the beloved wife of the late 6Robert Schultz; the loving mother of Kathy (Tom Hedlin) Ryg, 7Richard (Marilyn Melton) Schultz, Daniel Schultz, LeeAnn (Al) 8Ali, Dirk Schultz, and the late Ted and Peter Schultz; the dear 9grandmother of Jeff (Heather), Melissa (Lucas), Derek 10(Jillian), Karyn (Steve), Lindsay (Eoghan), Erin (Kain), Blake 11(Sheena), Alyssa (Mike), and Sophia; the great-grandmother of 12Isla, Sabrina, Leah, Jack, Alice, Eleanor, Thomas, George, 13Kennedy, Gavin, Griffin, Jackson, Camie, Maeve, and Hunter; the 14fond sister of Lori (Ed) Schultz, the late Sally Hogan, and Tom 15(Pat) Hogan; and aunt, cousin, and friend of many; therefore, 16be it 17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 18HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 19we mourn the passing of Sheila H.
