SQUADRON, HOYLMAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Government Operations AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to requiring the disclosure of state income tax returns by the president and vice president of the United States The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 697 of the tax law is amended by adding a new 2 subsection (p) to read as follows: 3 (p) Disclosure of certain elected officials' income tax returns.--(1) 4 Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (e) of this section, the 5 department shall post on its website all income tax returns filed pursu- 6 ant to this article by the president of the United States and the vice 7 president of the United States. Such income tax returns shall be posted 8 on the department's website no later than thirty days after the effec- 9 tive date of this subsection or thirty days after such elected official 10 has taken an oath of office, whichever is later. 11 (2) The department shall post on its website all subsequently filed 12 income tax returns for every year the president and vice president 13 remain in office no later than thirty days after the filing of such 14 return. 15 (3) Income tax returns on the department's website pursuant to this 16 subsection shall remain available to the public until such president and 17 vice president leave office. 18 (4) The commissioner is authorized and directed to establish proce- 19 dures for redacting personal identifying information from such income 20 tax returns before posting them to the department's website. 21 ยง 2.
