CONCURRENT RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE AND ASSEMBLY

proposing an amendment to article 1 of the constitution, in relation to the right to bear and keep arms

1 Section 1. Resolved (if the Senate concur), That article 1 of the 2 constitution be amended by adding a new section 19 to read as follows: 3 § 19. Right to keep and bear arms. A well regulated militia being 4 necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to 5 keep and bear arms cannot be infringed. 6 § 2. Resolved (if the Senate concur), That the foregoing amendment be 7 referred to the first regular legislative session convening after the 8 next succeeding general election of members of the assembly, and, in 9 conformity with section 1 of article 19 of the constitution, be 10 published for 3 months previous to the time of such election.
