85R11923 CJM-D     By: Davis of Dallas H.R. No. 634       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, A delegation of 10th-grade students from the ROPP   for Girls program is visiting the State Capitol on March 14, 2017;   and          WHEREAS, ROPP, which stands for Rites of Passage Program,   provides young women in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with Bible-based   training and experiences; the program seeks to help students pass   gracefully from childhood to adulthood by instilling in them high   moral values, strong self-esteem, and a sense of altruism; and          WHEREAS, Starting in sixth grade, participants attend   bimonthly classes, where they learn such life skills as financial   management, decision making, cooking, sewing, etiquette, and fine   arts appreciation; a highlight of the program is a trip to Ghana for   juniors and seniors; and          WHEREAS, By teaching young women good values and the ability   to lead healthy, productive lives, ROPP for Girls is making a   positive and lasting difference in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and   it is indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas   Legislature hereby commend ROPP for Girls for its contributions to   the community and extend to the ROPP participants visiting the   Capitol sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable   experience.
