Assembly Bill No. 1767
Introduced by Assembly Member Ramos

February 22, 2019

An act to amend Section 240 of the Education Code, relating to elementary and secondary education.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 1767, as introduced, Ramos. Elementary and secondary education: adoption of instructional materials.
Existing law establishes a system of public elementary and secondary education in this state. Under this system, local educational agencies provide instruction in kindergarten and grades 1 to 12, inclusive, at schoolsites throughout the state. Existing law requires school district governing boards to adopt instructional materials in accordance with a provision that requires the inclusion of only instructional materials that, in their determination, accurately portray the cultural and racial diversity of our society, as specified.
This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to this provision.
