SENATE SUBSTITUTE FOR

 

HOUSE BILL NO. 5813

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled

 

"The code of criminal procedure,"

 

(MCL 760.1 to 777.69) by adding section 15h to chapter IV.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

                              CHAPTER IV

 

     Sec. 15h. (1) After responding to an incident involving

 

alleged physical abuse of a vulnerable adult or elder adult, a

 

peace officer may also investigate for financial neglect, abuse, or

 

harm.

 

     (2) As used in this section:

 

     (a) "Elder adult" means an adult who is 65 years of age or

 

older.

 

     (b) "Vulnerable adult" means that term as defined in section

 

145m of the Michigan penal code, 1931 PA 328, MCL 750.145m.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.
