A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to transportation.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  (a)  The department of transportation, in collaboration with the department of defense and Federal Aviation Authority, shall conduct a study to determine the feasibility of repairing or renovating the Kalaeloa Airport air traffic control tower to ensure the safety of those working in the air traffic control tower.

     (b)  The department of transportation shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2021.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 for the department of transportation to conduct a study to determine the feasibility of repairing or renovating the Kalaeloa Airport air control tower to ensure the safety of those working in the tower.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of transportation for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2020.
